Summary:
Under close supervision, attends an Arizona Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) Board approved basic Police training academy to obtain Arizona Peace Officer Certification.

Essential duties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following:
Attends classroom training sessions and takes notes required to obtain State Peace Officer Certification.
Completes written, oral, and skills proficiency examinations for a wide variety of required Peace Officer skills and knowledge and maintains required levels of proficiency.
Participates in physical conditioning training, testing, and maintains required levels of physical fitness.
Adhere to Police Academy rules and regulations.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Works in a safe manner and reports unsafe activity and conditions.
Follows City-wide policy, practices, and adheres to responsibilities concerning safety prevention and reporting.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Education, Training and Experience Guidelines A High School Diploma or G.
E.
D equivalent Must be at least 21 years of age.
Must be a U.
S.
citizen.
Must meet minimum POST standard for medical examinations and physical ability.
Skill in:
Maintaining academic and professional standards in accordance with Department policies.
Following verbal and written instruction.
Reading and understanding training materials and completing written, physical, and skills testing.
Learning and applying training materials and training instructions.
LICENSE AND CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS A valid Driver's License PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING ENVIRONMENT Work is performed in a classroom environment, and in the field for training exercises.
Requires strenuous physical efforts, and Cadets are expected to successfully meet physical and academic demands related to the academy environment.
PROMOTION Upon successful completion of the Police Academy, you will be promoted from Police Officer Cadet to Police Officer, in which your pay will change from $21.
