Summary:
Under general supervision, performs work of moderate difficulty in professional municipal planning; performs other duties as required or assigned.

Essential duties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following:
Compiles and analyzes data on economic, social, and physical factors affecting land use, prepares or requisitions graphic and narrative reports on data.
Maintains land planning records and files.
Produces a variety of special maps and presentation graphics for internal and external customers including location maps, site plans, General Land Use Map, Annexation Maps and Subdivision Maps.
Confers with local authorities, civic leaders, land planning and development specialists and citizenry to devise and recommend arrangements of land and physical facilities for residential, commercial, industrial, and community uses.
Assist the public with applications of various permits regarding planning and zoning regulations, policies, and procedures.
Provides customer service regarding property information, parcel numbers, property dimensions, ownership, addresses and legal description.
Conducts special studies as required.
Perform all administrative duties of the Planning and Zoning Commission, including but not limited to creating meeting agendas, posting agendas to the city website, distributing meeting agenda packets to the commission, taking detailed notes, drafting meeting minutes for approval, and serving as the liaison between the commission and the public.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Education, Training and Experience Guidelines Bachelor's Degree in a planning or a closely related field which may include municipal, urban, or regional planning.
One (1) year of professional planning experience required or any combination of education, training or experience which demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position.
Thirty (30) semester hours of course work in GIS, Architecture, Graphic Design, and one (1) years' AutoCAD, ArcView, ArcInfo or related GIS software experience is preferred.
Knowledge of:
Geographical Information System software, digitizing, and data manipulation principles and procedures.
Principles, Practices and Techniques of community planning.
County, State and Federal laws pertaining to community planning.
Skill in:
Applying the principles and practices of urban or regional planning.
Preparing clear and complete drawings, maps, plats, and legal descriptions using computer aided drafting techniques.
Preparing technical reports and recommendations.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.
LICENSE AND CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS Must possess a valid Arizona Driver's License.

The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, and taste or smell.
