This is a part-time, grant-funded position (20 hours per week).
Under the guidance of the EPO Director, the Air Quality Technician will work to develop capacity for a tribal air quality program.
Essential Duties and
Responsibilities:
Research local air quality issues and write a tribal air quality assessmentReview and learn the Clean Air Act (CAA), including the major goals, programs, and requirements of the CAACommunicate with EPA regional personnel on air quality issues and training opportunitiesRespond to community concerns and inquiries on air qualityDocument work plan progress with photos and written narratives.
Submit monthly report to EPO Director.
Organize and maintain data files.
Attend in-person and virtual trainings for skill development.
Complete other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills and AbilitiesMust have working knowledge of computers and programs (Windows, Microsoft Office programs, Zoom)Strong written and verbal communication is essentialDesire to understand the Cocopah environmentWilling to work both in the office and in the field under all weather conditions.
Ability to help develop written reports, assessments, and documents QualificationsTesting may be required.
Must have valid driver's licenseMust be able to pass DPS/FBI Fingerprint background check.
Must be COVID-19 vaccinated or must obtain upon the completion of the first 120-days training period.
Education and/or ExperienceAssociate's degree in environmental science or related physical science is preferred.
Completion of trade school, professional or technical certification, specialized training.
6-months specialized work experience, 2-years work experience in related field or 2-years general experience.
The Cocopah Indian Tribe is a mandatory COVID-19 vaccination employer.
All employees are required to be fully vaccinated as a condition of employment.
