Full-time 2 days ago Full Job Description JOB Summary The Rio Colorado Golf Course Superintendent will be responsible for maintaining the grounds during all seasons.
Responsible for maintaining an aesthetically-pleasing and functional outdoor space.
Responsible for insecticides, chemical sprays, fertilizers and mulches to optimize condition of greenery.
Essential Duties and
Responsibilities:
Oversees grounds maintenance of the Rio Colorado golf course Responsible for the irrigation installation, repairs and the overall operation of irrigation systems Develops and executes grounds facility/maintenance Policies & Procedures Maintains gardens and lawns, including planting, fertilizing, weeding, soil conditioning, mulching and applying pesticides Daily lawn care, mows lawns, trims hedge, waters and seeds the lawn Performs regular weeding Keeps grounds free from trash, litter, and debris, and emptying trash receptacles Installs and repairs course fixtures, such as tee markers and benches, and at times move holes on greens Responsible for operating and maintains garden and landscaping equipment Maintains data logs and reports for the grounds Responsible for keeping an inventory of grounds supplies & orders supplies and equipment as needed Responsible for the groundskeeping budget & monitor expenditures Preparing and follow an annual agronomic plan that operates within the technical specifications of the contract and the annual budget Prepares the course for play in accordance with the rules of golf Works in collaboration with the Rio Colorado Operations Manager to periodically review grounds areas in order to make necessary recommendations to promote and enhance the welfare of the golf course and amenities Assists with recruiting, training, and mentoring staff for the Rio Colorado golf course grounds Other duties may be assigned.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Extensive knowledge of golf course water management, irrigation, landscaping techniques and processes Knowledge of pesticide, fertilizer, seeding and proper application methods Ability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends and/or holidays & ability to work at least 45-50 hours per week; if needed Ability to operate various types of power equipment including lawnmowers, trimmers, hedge trimmers, leaf blowers, and other landscaping equipment A working knowledge of the construction, establishment, and maintenance practices employed on golf course putting greens, tees, fairways, roughs, and bunkers Excellent time management skills Excellent verbal and communication skills Qualifications Class A or B golf course superintendent's certification and/ or turf management diploma; preferred Computer skills:
emails, Microsoft Office, workflow software, point of sale system Must be able to work indoors/outdoors, in extreme weather conditions as needed Current valid Arizona Driver's license Certified and /or licensed for pesticide usage Must pass DPS/FBI fingerprint background check Education and/or Experience Bachelors in Agronomy, Turfgrass Management or related field.
2-year specialized work experience, 4- years in related field, management or director position.
Experience in coordinating, scheduling, planning, prioritizing multiple projects in a limited time frame.
